If you are headed to Nepal on tourism, you might need to get a tourist visa. Fortunately, citizens of most countries can get a simple tourist visa on arrival at the airport or a land port of entry.

I’ll break everything down for you below about how to go about getting the Nepal Tourist Visa.

Visa required for U.S. citizens before you go to Nepal: No. U.S. citizens can get visas prior to travel or purchase multiple-entry visas upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu and many border points of entry. I personally recommend going the visa on arrival route.
Visa required for non-U.S. citizens before you go to Nepal: Check this page here at the Nepal Tourism Board to see if you need to get a visa for Nepal. Most people can get a simple visa on arrival.

If you’re outside of the U.S.: Check the bottom left of this page here.
You will have to go to the website of the embassy or consulate you found in Step 1 to find the required documents that apply to you for this type of visa. The required documents should look a lot like what is posted here at the Embassy of Nepal website.
The official visa fees from the Nepal Immigration are posted here.
- Submit your required materials from Step 2 and visa fee from Step 3 to the embassy or consulate you found in Step 1.
- Each embassy and consulate will have different submission rules, so you will need to go to the website you found in Step 1 to find out the in-person or by-mail submission instructions.
Congratulations! The Embassy or Consulate of Nepal will give to you your brand new Nepal visa.
