How to Get a Tourist Visa for Nauru

Nauru Tourist Visa

Nauru Tourist Visa

Nauru is a tiny speck of an island located in the western Pacific Ocean about 42 kilometers (26 mi.) south of the Equator.  Like Kiribati, Nauru sprung to fame for its vast amounts of phosphate reserves (which no longer exist).

No need to fear though, Visa Hunter is here!  Let me explain below in plain and simple terms how to get the Tourist Visa for Nauru.

Visa required for U.S. citizens before you go to Nauru:  Yes, all tourists need a passport, visa, onward/return ticket, and proof of hotel bookings (or sponsorship from a resident of Nauru) to enter Nauru.

Visa required for non-U.S. citizens:  Yes, most people need to get a visa in advance. However, visitors from one of the 54 Commonwealth Countries can get a visa on arrival in Nauru.

Go to my Nauru visa page for information on how to get a different type of visa for Nauru.

1
Book a flight to Nauru

You will need to book a ticket on Nauru Airlines which flies a Boeing 737-300 series aircraft from Brisbane, Australia to Nauru once a week.

2
Book a hotel in Nauru

After you book your plane ticket, you will need to book a hotel in Nauru.  Here are some sample hotels. I recommend you call them instead of e-mailing them as they are not the best responders to e-mails.

3
E-mail the Nauru Consulate in Brisbane, Australia

You will need to e-mail the Nauru Consulate in Brisbane, Australia and tell them that you need a visa for Nauru.  They will e-mail you a visa form which you will need to fill out and send back to them.

4
Receive permission to enter Nauru

The Nauru Consulate in Brisbane will e-mail you a permission letter to enter Nauru.  Keep this with you because you will need to present it when you land in Nauru.

5
Present your passport upon arrival

You will have to give your passport to the Nauru Immigration upon your arrival for them to process your visa.

6
Pick up your materials

Congratulations!  That’s it!  Either later that day or the next day, you will need to pick up your passport with Nauru visa from the Parliament Building.
