India Business Visa
Do you have a business trip to India and are wondering what you need to do in order to get a visa to go there?
An India Business Visa is granted to foreigners who intend to come to India for business purposes, either to explore the different opportunities in India or to actually carry out deals.
The difference between the Business Visa for India and the Employment Visa for India is that this visa type is for people who will not be getting a paycheck from an Indian employer. The Ministry of Home Affairs has a good writeup on the difference between the Employment Visa for India and the Business Visa for India.
Business visas are generally valid for multiple entry up to a period of 5 years.
I’ll break everything down for you below about how to go about getting the India Business Visa.
Visa required for U.S. citizens before you go to India: No. You can get an e-visa in advance if you are going for a short time.
Diplomatic and Official visa applications, however, are accepted directly at the Indian Embassy and Consulates.
Visa required for non-U.S. citizens before you go to India: All foreign nationals entering India are required to possess a valid international travel document in the form of a national passport or UN Laissez Faire with a valid visa obtained from an Indian Mission or Post abroad. Nationals of Nepal, Bhutan and Maldives are however, exempted from this requirement.

There is still an Embassy of India in Washington D.C., however, as well as various consulates.

Follow the links from Step 1 above where you will see pretty fool-proof steps on how to go about getting the visa.
Submit your required materials and visa fee from Step 2 to the entity you found in Step 1.
Congratulations! That’s it!

- If you applied by mail, wait until it gets to you.
