Cameroon has a fairly straightforward tourist visa process. The forms provided by the Embassy of Cameroon in Washington D.C. are about as idiot-proof as you can get.

Visa required for U.S. citizens before you go to Cameroon: Yes, a valid passport, visa, evidence of yellow-fever vaccination, and current immunization records are required for entry into Cameroon.
Visa required for non-U.S. citizens: Yes, as stated here, the only people who don’t need visas to Cameroon are as nationals of Mali, Chad, Central African Republic, and Nigeria.

- The Embassy of Cameroon gets to decide how long your visa will be valid for, but, in general, you can either choose to get a Short Stay Visa (< 3 months) or a Long Stay Visa (> 3 months).
