For the work visa, start by following the normal Lesotho Visitor (Tourist/Business) process. You will then need to go to Lesotho and apply for a work permit. If you intend to take up primary residence in Lesotho, you will also need a residence permit for Lesotho.
Go to my Lesotho visa page to see information on other types of visas for Lesotho.
- If you’re outside of the U.S. click here.
- If you’re inside the U.S.: The consulate you will have to use is located in Washington D.C.:
Embassy of Lesotho in Washington D.C.
- Double check the latest fee at the consulate you found in the first step.
- You can pay using cash, money order or company check.
- If you decide to get a money order, I recommend you go to your nearest Post Office and get a U.S. Postal Service Money Order.
Submit your materials from Step 2 with the visa fee you got in Step 3 to the consulate you found in Step 1.
The embassy/consulate will return to you your passport with visa.
Apply for a work permit within 30 days of your arrival to Lesotho
Your employer should guide you through this process, but, in general, you will have to do the following:
- Complete a relevant application form (Get it at the Ministry of Labour & Employment in Maseru)
- Submit your application to the Commissioner at the Ministry of Labour & Employment
Congratulations! Enjoy your employment.
