Is a visa required for U.S. citizens?: No visa needed for stays up to 90 days. (tourist or business purposes)
An extension of stay for 90 days is possible upon payment of an extension fee at the Chilean Immigration Office.

Gather the required documents and follow the procedures here.
Gather the appropriate fee. Search the website of your consulate or contact them to find out the fee. This fee is usually only payable as either a MONEY ORDER or CASHIERS CHECK to the Consulate General of Chile.
Submit the information that you gathered in Step 2 and the fee in Step 3 to the consulate that you located in Step 1.
Congratulations! After a period of waiting, the Chilean Consulate/Embassy will give to you your brand new Chilean visa.
