All foreigners wishing to enter Mexico must fill out an FMM.
For those people from countries who do not need pre-approved visas (e.g. the United States), you can fill out the entry form (called the “Formato Basico”) at any port of entry. If this is the case, you’re done!
For those people from countries who need pre-approved visas, click on the link to find the website of the closest consulate to you.
Normally, after you land on the consulate page, there will be a link on the left-hand side that says “Visas,” “Visa for Mexico”, or “Visas for Foreign Nationals.” Find that link and click it.
Look for a link that says “Business Visa” or “Visa Categories” (then find the Business Visa link) and click on it.
Gather the required documents.
- Note that the required documents will vary from consulate to consulate.
- The Mexican government gives the individual consular offices a lot of leeway on what they can ask for.
In most situations, probably because there are so many Mexican consulates in the United States and around the world, you will need to apply in person.
Your new Mexican visa will be ready shortly. The time period will vary from consulate to consulate. Congratulations! Enjoy your trip!
