The Atlanta Consulate serves the States of Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Mississippi and Tennessee.
All Temporary Visa holders may only stay in Brazil for up to 90 days, regardless of nationality or the length of time that the Visa is given for. You can extend the 90 days by going to the Federal Police in Brazil. They can give you an additional 90 days on your visa (180 day per year maximum).
Go to the Atlanta Brazilian Consulate site and gather all of the required documentation. Be sure to check the page for any special cases that you may have.
- Check to see that you have gotten a USPS (United States Postal Service) money order in the correct amount.
Submit your materials to the Atlanta Consulate.
Check the status of your visa at this website.
- The visa form should have notarized signature of both parents or legal guardians, even if traveling with both parents
- One notarized letter of consent authorizing the minor to travel to and from Brazil signed by both parents
- One copy of birth certificate, not the original;
The Brazilian Consulate will give to you your brand new Brazilian Visa.

- Visas are good for multiple entries.
- You will need to plan way in advance if you want to get this type of visa.
- The vast majority of volunteer groups will recommend entering on a tourist visa instead of going through the pain and frustration of getting the Vitem I.
