Iceland isn’t all that big. There are only two dating apps worth trying:

1. Bumble
2. Tinder

Iceland, like Finland and Denmark, has a small but effective dating scene.

Iceland is dominated by two dating apps. All of the other sites that claim that they are the best dating site or app in Iceland are a complete waste of time and money.

1. Bumble

2. Tinder

Tinder used to work well, but it doesn’t work well anymore. Because it is so easy to sign up, you will find a lot of time-wasters on there. Only use Tinder if you have a lot of free time on your hands.

Signup Process

Tinder’s signup process is quick and to the point. After verifying your account, you will be prompted to fill out your profile and complete an in-depth preferences questionnaire to help their algorithm generate compatible matches in your area. If you connect your Facebook account, your information can be auto-filled.

For a better chance at getting matches, make sure to complete your profile with plenty of photos and unique prompt answers to set yourself apart. You can also connect your Instagram account to display your most recent IG photos on your profile that potential matches can easily view without having to leave the app.

If your taste in music is something you take a lot of pride in, you can also link your Spotify to show off your best playlists and favorite artists.

How to Locate Potential Matches

As the inventor of the left/right swiping interface, Tinder makes it simple to sort through potential love interests by barely lifting a finger. When you come across a profile, you simply swipe right if you’re interested or left if you’re not. If the users you swipe right on also swipe right on your profile, then you’re a match!

Free members also get one super like every day. You can use your super like to let someone know you are especially interested in them as they will be notified of this action if you match.

To view your matches, simply click “Matches” in the app’s navigation menu.

How to Communicate with Other Members

It’s only after matching that you will unlock communication features with a specific user. Fortunately, though, you have more options than just messaging. Within the app, you can face-to-face video chat your matches so you never have to give out your phone number until you’re sure you’re ready.

Tinder has several distinctive features:

• Smart photos — Smart Photos shows you which of the photos on your profile are getting the most attention.
• Vibes — “Vibes” are periodic themed quizzes that users can answer. For 48 hours, their quiz results will appear on their profile for their matches.
• Hot takes — “Hot takes” is another periodic event that is Tinder’s version of speed dating.
• Block your ex — Don’t want to see an old flame or family and colleagues on the app? Tinder allows you to block profiles so they won’t show up in your feed, helping you avoid awkward encounters.
• Super likes — Let someone know you are particularly interested by super liking them.
• Boosts — Temporarily makes your profile more visible so you can get more matches.
