Papua New Guinea Visitor Visa
If you are headed to Papua New Guinea, you might need to get a Visitor Visa (also known as the Entry Permit) before you go. It will all depend on what country you are from.
As stated here at the website for the Papua New Guinea Immigration and Citizenship Service Authority, you can get a Visitor Visa for Papua New Guinea for the following reasons:
- Tourist (Tour Package) – Group tours, student excursion groups, etc
- Tourist (Own Itinerary) – Individuals who wish to sightsee independently, travel, or visit friends, etc
- Easy Visitor Permits (EVP) – EVPs are strictly issued upon arrival in PNG
- Visiting Relative – For individuals visiting husbands, wives, or other family members
- Journalist – For reporters, TV presenters, announcers, correspondents
- Sportsperson – For sporting personalities visiting for short sports related stays
- Film-maker (Non-commercial) – For individuals who wish to make not-for-profit or public release films
- Yacht person – Owner, captain, and crew of a yacht as well as any accompanying spouse and/or children

I’ll break everything down for you below about how to go about getting the Papua New Guinea Visitor Visa.
- Visa required for U.S. citizens before you go to Papua New Guinea: No.
- U.S. citizens can get business or tourist visas (valid for stays of up to 60 days, with extensions available for an additional 30 days) upon arrival at Jacksons International Airport in Port Moresby.
- Visa required for non-U.S. citizens before you go to Papua New Guinea:
- If your country is listed on this page here, you can get a visa upon arrival. Otherwise, you need to apply for a visa before your trip.
- The official list of required documents is here at the website of the Papua New Guinea Immigration and Citizenship Service Authority, but you should definitely check the website of the Consulate or Embassy you found in Step 1 above to confirm what is required for you.
- Note that the official visa forms are all located on this page.
- I’m not sure if it is intentional or not, but the latest visa fees are very hard to find on all of the consulate and embassy websites and even the official Immigration website. The Embassy of Papua New Guinea in Washington D.C. actually makes you call them up to find the latest visa fee???. I have no clue why they can’t just list it on their website to make it easier for everyone.
- I recommend you call up the Embassy or Consulate you found in Step 1 in order to find out the latest visa fees.
- Submission instructions will vary from consulate to consulate and embassy to embassy, so you will need to check the submission instructions at the website of the embassy or consulate you found in Step 1.
The Embassy or Consulate of Papua New Guinea will give to you your brand new Papua New Guinea visa.
