If you are traveling to Hungary for a long of 90 days or more, you will need to get a Long Stay Visa (Type D). This type of visa is designed for people going to Hungary for the following purposes:
- for gainful activity
- to study in Hungary
- for family reunification
- to visit friends/relatives
- for medical treatment
- for research
- to do voluntary work

- If you’re inside the U.S., you will need to refer to the embassy or consulate that services your State (based on your jurisdiction).

- Submission instructions will vary from consulate to consulate and embassy to embassy, so you will need to check the submission instructions at the website of the embassy or consulate you found in Step 1.
