Hungary Long Stay Visa
If you are traveling to Hungary for a long of 90 days or more, you will need to get a Long Stay Visa (Type D). This type of visa is designed for people going to Hungary for the following purposes:
- for gainful activity
- to study in Hungary
- for family reunification
- to visit friends/relatives
- for medical treatment
- for research
- to do voluntary work

I’ll break everything down for you below about how to go about getting the Hungary Long Stay Visa.
- If you’re inside the U.S., you will need to refer to the embassy or consulate that services your State (based on your jurisdiction).
- If you’re outside of the U.S.: Click here.
- The official list of required supporting documents is here at Consulate Services in Budapest, Hungary, but you should definitely check the website of the Consulate or Embassy you found in Step 1 above to confirm what is required for you.
- Official visa fees are listed here, but visa fees might vary depending on where you apply, so go to the website of the Embassy or Consulate you found in Step 1.
- If you are applying in the U.S., the latest visa fees are listed here.
- Submission instructions will vary from consulate to consulate and embassy to embassy, so you will need to check the submission instructions at the website of the embassy or consulate you found in Step 1.
Congratulations! The Embassy or Consulate of Hungary will give to you your brand new Hungary visa.
