If you are headed to Hungary for a short stay of up to 90 days, you might need to get a Short Stay Visa (i.e. Schengen Visa Type C) depending on what country you are from.  In general, with the Schengen Visa, you are free to roam the Schengen Territory as you wish.

Most people who get the Short Stay Visa for Hungary are going there for tourism or business.

I’ll break everything down for you below about how to go about getting the Hungary Short Stay Visa.

  • Visa required for U.S. citizens before you go to Hungary:  No 
    • Hungary is a party to the Schengen Agreement. As such, U.S. citizens for business or tourism are permitted to stay in the Schengen area for 90 days without a visa within a six-month period.
  • Visa required for non-U.S. citizens before you go to Hungary:
    • Citizens of countries on this list do not need a visa in order to enter Hungary for a short stay (90 days or less)
